The Alliance for Positive Health is governed by a diverse Board of Directors which is responsible for the oversight of the of many aspects of this community-based organization.
Our important work includes the policies, programs, and finances that enable the Alliance to pursue its mission to reduce the impact and incidence of AIDS/HIV and other medical and social conditions in society.
We are a diverse board with varied experiences, expertise, and perspectives, enabling the Alliance to maintain a strong position to plan, manage risk, make prudent decisions, and take full advantage of cultural differences and opportunities to meet its vision and mission.

Our duties and responsibilities
Duties: The Board is responsible for overall oversight of the organization’s policies, programs, and finances in pursuit of its mission to reduce the impact and incidence of HIV/AIDS and other serious medical and social conditions. Board members serve a three-year term and are expected to participate in fundraising activities and manage and participate in organizational committees. The Alliance provides orientation training to support new members as they acclimate to the duties of the Board.
Time commitment: Board members are expected to attend regular board meetings and participate in one or more of its organizational committees, thus requiring approximately 3-5 hours per month. Board members also spend some time before meetings to review materials. As a result of the pandemic, our meetings offer board members an option to attend virtually or in person. Â This change enables interested individuals in any of the 17 counties, served by the Alliance to conveniently participate on the Board.
Qualifications/Skills Requirements: Board members should have good interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills. Additionally, Board members who have skills or experiences in policy development, organizational and strategic planning, finances, marketing, and event management experience would add to and complement the different backgrounds of the board.
