Real Talk

Real Talk is a youth-driven prevention initiative which utilizes technology to assist primarily urban, Black and Latino teens (ages 13-17) in reducing their risk for HIV/AIDS, STIs, unplanned pregnancy, and substance use. Through various technology-based projects like videos, photography, memes, digital media, music and more, teens design and share messages and stories intended to help their friends, family and other high risk teens change their risk behaviors.
Real Talk provides:
- Individual and group support
- Three types of multiple session groups: A-Tech, Storyteller, Tech Group
- Community Advisory Boards made up of youth and adult stakeholders in Albany, Troy and Schenectady
- HIV/STI testing
- Education and cultivation of leadership and social media skills
- Free safer sex supplies
Real Talk focuses on having a positive impact on community norms around HIV/STI screening, delaying sex, practicing safer sex, abstinence from sexual activity and substance use, and related behaviors.
